Dining room project for under $75...

I just wanted to share with you all what our Saturday looked like. It is very rare that we do major projects in our house because of the fact that we bought an old craftsman home that had been flipped. With that being said there are always small projects that I want to do but never get down to actually doing them, well as of yesterday that all changed. We decided to add a little more character to our dining room. I have to throw in a little apology, please excuse the mess on our dining room table. You know how it is when you are doing projects!

This is a before shot, again please excuse the mess!

Another before shot, I promise my table is not always this messy!

Last before shot! (Sorry about the old windows! I bought those because I fell in love with them and still don't know what I am going to do with them!)
I started by painting extra white, semi-gloss paint about 4ft up the walls. I was responsible for painting while my husband was in the garage measuring and cutting the wood/trim.

Let the painting begin!

Finally starting to hang the trim! The trim actually went up really fast and pretty painless. The difficult part was the true finish work. That was my job, the wood putty, sand paper and painting! Yikes, that took some time!

The finished product! I still have to hang pictures and move things around but the walls are complete!

I love the feel of crisp white!

Now I just need to figure out what I want to hang on the walls! It is amazing what trim, white paint and about $70 can do for a room!
I hope you all had a great weekend!

Creighton on my iPhone: 2011

I thought I would share with you some of my favorite pictures that were taken of Creighton with my iPhone throughout this year. I never really realize just how many pictures I take of my child until I look through my phone! Here are just a few I wanted to share!
This was taken in January: I love looking at this face but hate dropping him off every morning before work!
This was taken in February: My "little" baby decided he would sit up on his own. Of course mommy had to capture every minute of it!
This was taken in March: Creighton's 6 month check-up. He came in at 17lbs, 5oz and 28 inches tall!
This picture was taken in April: Somebody decided they would show us just how fast the time is going and stand up to play with his activity table!
This picture was taken in May: Creighton clearly needed a haircut but mommy wasn't quite ready for the big boy haircut so she told daddy that we could just use a hair-band to solve the problem. (Daddy wasn't too happy about the idea!)
This picture was taken in June: Creighton loved watching the tub fill with water for bath time, of course mommy had to capture this too!
This picture was taken in July: We were on a road trip to Seattle and Creighton decided he would read a book!
This picture was taken in August: Creighton had just woken up from an afternoon nap and was not a happy camper!
This picture was taken in September: My sweet baby boy turned ONE!
This picture was taken in October: This was the picture that really made me realize how much Creighton has changed and that he is truly starting to look like a toddler!
This was taken in November: This is about the time we realized our love for hats!
This was taken in December: I love his red nose, rosy cheeks and that smile!

There have been many highlights of this year and I am still amazed just how much Creighton has changed but am reminded daily just how blessed I am to be his mama. He brings me so much joy and yet I still find myself getting sad at how fast he is developing and changing. There are days I just wish I had a pause, rewind or sometimes even a stop button! I love my special times with Creighton whether is it dancing, reading, counting to three, yelling for dada, teaching him colors, teaching him to say please, thank you and yes (instead of uh-huh), I am cherishing every minute of this journey!! I love being a mom and am thankful for this little man!
Happy New Year!

Weekend Getaway

We have been home two weekends since June which is why I have not posted anything in over a month. I apologize I am so far behind. Several months ago as we were figuring out all our hustle and bustle for the summer I said to Scott, "I sure would like to go somewhere with sunshine and a pool and just sit!" About 48 hours later Scott surprised me with 4 day trip to Southern California, Huntington Beach to be exact. This is exactly what I needed, a quiet, simple, warm vacation with the man I love. I was a little bit nervous for this trip as this was going to be our first long overnight trip without our sweet boy, FOUR whole days. The thought of being in another State was not something I was too excited about! So we got on an airplane, saying good-bye to our sweet boy, me in tears as we walked into the airport for our little getaway.
We made it to California with just our bags in hand, (not a diaper bag full of items that we probably won't need but you take with you "just in case" something happens or you just might need it!). The first night we got there we decided to drive to downtown Disney just to get a little bit of the Disneyland feel without having to pay $100 for just a couple hours!
This picture was taken before any sun and as you can see is was taken right outside the Disneyland gate. That night we decided to eat at the House of Blues, it was a perfect night. We sat there and talked about Creighton most of the meal. I was a sucker for children that night, every baby or child that came by I was saying, "look at that little boy" and "if Creighton was here he would love that!" Poor Scott, I guess the grown up talk goes out the window, even if your children aren't with you!
The next morning we decided to just hang out around our resort, sit by the pool, read a book with no distractions, maybe take a nap in the sun, the plan was to basically do whatever we wanted and that was to do nothing. As you can see by this picture we took full advantage of the situation at hand! After sitting in the sun most of the day we decided to walk to the main strip and enjoy a nice dinner, just the two of us!
The next morning we decided to rented cruisers and rode down to Newport Beach! What a trip, first of all I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cruisers. They are a must and I have been on the hunt for a sweet one for a long time. I really enjoyed this nice stroll! I loved the simplicity of Newport Beach!
During our visit to Newport Beach we decided to have ourselves a little jumping photo shoot! I am pretty sure we lost track of time and ended up doing this for a solid 30 minutes. ENJOY!
This last one cracks me up every time! I mean you have to wonder what people around us were thinking!
We did manage to take one nice photo amongst all our crazy, goofy ones!
We were even able to get one with our cool cruisers, even if it is taken from about 30 feet away!
After our ride we decided to head back to the pool and enjoy the sun a little bit longer. Yes, those are my leg wrapped in the towel, at this point my body had seen almost too much sun!
That night we had a nice dinner and took a walk on the boardwalk! It felt as though we were dating again! All in all this was a very special trip.
We were set to leave the next day, as much as we enjoyed our trip and our time together we were both ready to come see our sweet boy!
We managed to snap one more jumping picture on our way out of town! This might be the best one of the trip!
This trip was such a blessing and it is exactly what we needed! I am so thankful for my husband and his thoughtfulness in planning this simply perfect getaway! I can't wait to visit that pool and beautiful sunshine again soon!  Until next time HB!

Learning to Climb...

Ever since Creighton has learned how to crawl he has been a busy, busy boy. That means mommy and daddy are always on the go trying to follow this little man around the house. One day while grandma was watching him he thought he would learn how to climb the steps. Within a few hours he had learned how to climb all the way to the top, with a little help from grandma of course. Creighton has such a fun personality and is actually a funny boy. I thought I would share this special event with you guys and I think these pictures portray Creighton's personality just perfect!
He is such a cheese ball!
Always a smiley boy!
Please excuse my dirty stairs and shirt/shoes in the background!
Over the shoulder look, JUST to make sure I was watching!
He looks mad in this picture but he is just really excited!

This is my tall boy that can touch 4 steps at once!
So excited and proud of himself!
I love this face!
Creighton is now being goofy!

All done with his climb and very proud!
Creighton is at such a fun stage. He changes everyday and blows my mind how much and how fast he is learning new things. I have to say I am more exhausted now than I was when he was a newborn but get so much joy from this little person. God truly has blessed our family with this little man. We love you sweet Creighton and I am so thankful/proud to be your mama!

Thankfulness...

~4th of July~
This Holiday is truly one of my favorite times of the year. (Other than Christmas and Thanksgiving of course) I feel like the 4th of July is what really kicks of Summer. For the past two years we have had the privilege of going over to Wenatchee to stay with Scott's sister and her family. What a blessing! The 4th this year was a special one, last year at this time I was 7 months pregnant and this year we were able to actually enjoy it as a family of 3. When I think of this holiday a few things come to mind.

LIKE...
Sweet cherries that we are so lucky to be able to pick every morning!
Fun times with our niece and nephew, Alice and David!
Family time and fun bloopers!
How blessed we are!
Hand dipped chocolate covered pretzels!
Sweet David!
Our cheerful baby boy!
This sweet face!
and of course THIS sweet face!

We are so thankful for the many blessings in our lives. Most of all I pray we don't forget why we celebrate the 4th of July!
